Site Greening

Single-use plastics

From 2018 we’ve adopted a complete ban on single-use plastics on the festival site. This means you won’t be able to buy bottled water or juice (or cans for that matter). So all drinks will be served in paper cups, and you’ll be able to buy branded festival water bottles on site which you can re-fill for free at our ‘hydration stations’.

Reusable Ecocups

Ecocups are a rigid plastic branded cup designed to be reused annually by the festival. Introduced in 2015 this initiative reduces the amount of plastic waste to landfill and keeps our site clean.

How it works?

When buying your drinks tokens, you’ll also need to buy a £1 cup token for each person you are likely to be buying a drink for. When you get to the bar you’ll get a cup for each cup token that you hold, along with your drinks. When you go back to the bar to buy another drink, you’ll get a fresh cup for each used cup that you hand over.

At the end of the night (or at any point during the event) you can take your Ecocup back to the token booth and get your deposit back. Or you can donate your deposit to our nominated charity - Macmillan Cancer Care.

Or why not take your cup home as a keepsake for attending HebCelt? Don’t worry, you’ve already paid for it.

Ecocups are fast becoming the recognised route to reducing plastic waste at festivals. Considering our location it is imperative that we remove as much as possible from this waste stream. Not only does it save money, time and resources for the festival but it will ensure that the site is kept clear, which we know you feel passionate about.

Please note: cups dispensed by caterers should be disposed with plates, cutlery and food waste. All catering waste is fully compostable.

Thank you!

Waste Disposal

There are four waste points around the green that should cater for all waste generated at the festival. Each point includes bins for
  1. Organic Waste: food, plates, cups, cutlery and paper all of which are compostable.
  2. Tins and Plastic bottles: all drinks cans and plastic drinks bottles
  3. General: Anything else that doesn’t come into the other categories.

Please help us to keep the green clean and streamline all waste disposal.

Green Team

Look out for our Green Team volunteers who are there to help you dispose of waste in line with festival guidelines.
