Hailing from the Highlands of Scotland, Elephant Sessions formed in 2012. They are comprised of Euan Smillie (fiddle), Alasdair Taylor (mandolin), Calum MacQuarrie (bass) and Greg Barry (drums, samples).
Already renowned for their breath-taking live shows, the band gained success not just within the UK, but also found themselves beginning to perform at some of the most prestigious European festivals. Since then, they have made live appearances at some of the most notable venues and festivals across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia, including Glastonbury, Byron Bay Bluesfest, Colours of Ostrava and multiple headline sell-outs at Celtic Connections.
Mercury Prize winning band Alt-J, along with BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6, found themselves converted to the Elephant Sessions’ unique brand of indie folk. A live session on NPR and articles in Rolling Stone Magazine and the Bluegrass Situation sat alongside national press, radio and tv. The band went on to pick up Album of the Year (2017) and Live Act of the Year (2018) at the BBC Trad Music Awards as well as a nomination for Best Group at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and being twice nominated for the SAY Awards (Scottish Album of the Year) for their albums All We Have Is Now and What Makes You.
2022 saw the release of their highly anticipated fourth album, For The Night, reaching #3 in the Official UK Folk Album Charts, as well as the band’s tenth anniversary, where they played a special sold out show in Glasgow’s legendary Barrowlands.
They are no strangers to a HebCelt crowd who love their energetic live show.
