Festival Role Site Coordination Team Lead
How did you get involved in the festival? I was first involved in 2014 with the Safe Space, supporting young people on and off site. Then with a change in my 9-5 job I decided to try something new in 2022, joining as a volunteer with the Retail team and then in 2023 was delighted to be part of the new Site Coordination Team where I was truly in my element!
What makes HebCelt special? I am sure this has been said by almost every other volunteer, but only because it is so true.... The HebCelt Family! Every year it is like coming home to your favourite cousins and having a great big party. It is an amazing atmosphere and a place to make new friends who become friends for life. The music is always exciting too - especially when you see new, young artists return and grow.
Best festival memory? My goodness, that's a hard questions. So many! I think sitting on my friends shoulders when I was 15 or 16 singing my heart out to The Saw Doctors and getting to experience the festival feels in full swing in Stornoway.
Favourite festival gig? Niteworks in the islands tent is up there, along with Newton Faulkner, Texas and Runrig... it is tough to choose just the one!
