Recruiting Box Office Staff - 2 Positions Available

What / where / when

HebCelt box office operates for a month over the build-up to the festival carrying through until the week after. The week of the event will be extremely busy so it’s important that you are able to take a flexible approach to work shifts.

Shop opens on 25th June, and will operate 10am – 5pm, Mon-Sat. During the festival the shop opens variable hours to cope with the volume of attendees for the event. Prior to that your assistance is required to set up the shop, be creative with décor, sort and display clothing and related merchandising stock, acquaint yourself with the box office systems, and familiarise yourself with the day to day procedures required to be undertaken. Tasks are varied in this specialist field so be prepared to be a font of knowledge in relation to the music and wider festival programme and operation, venues, locations and tourism to the islands in general. Cash handling and banking is another key aspect of the role.

Person Spec

  • Retail and customer service experience necessary
  • Enthusiastic, can-do attitude
  • Competent with IT and good numeracy skills
  • Friendly outgoing manner
  • Confident in meeting and speaking with people
  • Ability to work under pressure with flexible approach to shifts
  • Local knowledge and ability to speak Gaelic desirable

Terms & Conditions

This post hourly rate is £8.75. This is inclusive of holiday pay. Pay will be made by BACs weekly on submission and verification of hours completed.

Free access to certain festival activities will be provided with the post.


This is a demanding role within the festival. You will be supported initially by the Festival Director and admin team. The wider festival volunteer team are a great group of hard working individuals who you will come to know and we hope appreciate the amazing efforts they put into the festival to make it happen. You will have the experience of your life, hopefully an enjoyable one.

CalMac Daily ferry travel to and from the Isles. The main ferry to Lewis is from Ullapool on the mainland but can also be reached through Harris from Skye or North Uist.
