Golden Ticket Winners

It was Stornoway's very own gold rush – VIP tickets to help celebrate this year's 20th anniversary of Hebcelt.

A chance to see the festival in style and rub shoulders with the stars, as a thank you for buying early and supporting Hebcelt.

As the excitement began to build, the winners of the gold laminated passes, CDs and goodie bags came into the Hebcelt HQ earlier this week and soaked up some of the behind the scenes buzz too.

The Smith family

Toby Reynolds, 35, from North Galson; Ruaraidh, 19, and Ewan White, 16, who live in Dingwall; and family of five Darren Smith, 32, Gemma , 30, Gemma, nine Elizabeth, 10 and Michelle, eight, from North Bragar, made up the prize guys. They received prize packs that included the golden tickets for themselves and three others, giving access to areas normally reserved for bands, artists and guests of the festival.

And they were over the moon at the prospect of rubbing shoulders with the likes of the Treacherous Orchestra, Salsa Celtica, Afro Celt Sound System, Karen Matheson, Shooglenifty and more.

Toby, who works with the Coastguard, said: “The festival's fantastic, the town is always really buzzing at this time of year.”

And Darren added: “We've really been looking forward to it.”
