Scots in Québec
From 11th July for a month, An Lanntair, Stornoway
Our Québec focus during this year's festival permits the exhibition of a selection of photographs from the McCord Museum's Notman Photographic Archives offering a fascinating glimpse of the life led by Scottish immigrants and their descendants in Québec in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The exhibition looks at the lifestyles and pastimes of these Scottish pioneers and illustrates the achievements of Scottish settlers in Canada's largest province in the fields of engineering, commerce, shipping and academia.
Family Concerts
Wednesday, 15th July – Friday, 17th July, 1pm – 2pm: Town Hall, Stornoway
Bring along the young ones and relax in the company of some fine musicians.
This fabulous family event provides the ideal opportunity for the young ones to experience their first festival concert.
The event is free and unticketed so get there early to avoid disappointment.
Stornoway Through Time
Wednesday 16th July and Thursday, 17th July: Amity House, Stornoway
Tour guide Mary McCormack will take you for a leisurely stroll through Stornoway, giving a flavour of its history, people and buildings. The walks will start at 12pm from Amity House, Esplanade Road, Stornoway, and will last approximately 2 hours.
Dancing Display
Thursday, 16th July, 4pm: An Lanntair Courtyard, Stornoway
The Vikings return! A special attraction for the homecoming festival features a display by a group of dancers collected from all over Norway. Colourful and energetic this group will be displaying some traditional dances from different regions of Norway and will follow this up with a workshop to which all are invited.
Danns' a Rathad
Friday, 17th July, 4pm: Point Street, Stornoway
Come along and help us set a record for the longest road dance in Stornoway. Helped along by our houseband Deoch an Dorus what better way to shape up for Friday's big night out.
Suitable for all the family, experience not essential but enthusiasm welcomed. See you there!
Hebridean Celtic Festival Shinty Challenge Cup
Saturday, 18th July, 2pm: Bayhead Pitch, Stornoway
This year's inter-island shinty challenge will once again see Camanachd Leòdhais and Uist Camanachd clash for the Inter Island Challenge Cup sponsored by the Hebridean Celtic Festival.
Don't miss the opportunity to come along and see this historical sport being played by the Western Isles' biggest shinty rivals.

Sail Hebrides Maritime Festival
13th – 18th July, Stornoway
The annual Hebridean Maritime Festival attracts boats from Europe, the UK, Scotland and the Hebrides for a week of fun, food, challenges and of course music at both Festivals. The Festival gets young local people to sea in all sorts of boats and integrates them with the visiting crews. All a lot of fun.

Harris Tweed Evening
Wednesday, 15th July 8.30pm, Harris Hotel, Tarbert, Isle of Harris
Covering the story of tweed from the fleece to the finished garment. Dyers, spinners and weavers will demonstrate their skills. With historical background from Bill Lawson and songs from local singers, including part of the waulking process, this is a highly colourful and entertaining evening. A chance to experience the process in the home of Harris Tweed weaving.

Lewis Highland Games - Saturday, 18th July
Tong, Isle of Lewis
The programme includes, Golden Lions Parachute display, Police Dog Handlers, Sheep dog handler, Street Entertainers, Children's 'Homecoming' Parade, Vintage Car display; athletics, heavy events, piping and highland dancing competitions.
Shuttle bus runs from Stornoway bus station throughout the afternoon.
